Seventy Seven was briefed to launch Children in Need 2009 two months before the telethon, to drive traffic to the website and get people downloading fundraising packs in plenty of time before the big night.
This year’s Appeal marks Terry Wogan’s 30th show - and what better way to celebrate a landmark anniversary than with a Terry Wogan cake?
We worked with Jane Asher to create a life-size cake of the great man himself and unveiled the cake to over 20 TV crews and photographers in Covent Garden, alongside Terry himself.
The key shots were then sold in alongside the caption “Sir Terry Wogan saw double today as he came face to face with his own image in cake form to celebrate his 30th anniversary of hosting BBC Children in Need.
The stunt generated over 100 pieces of coverage including five national newspapers in addition to broadcast pieces on BBC News 24, BBC London and across the BBC regional radio network.
