Breaking into the UK online betting market during Euro2008 – an event that featured not a single British team – may have seemed a challenge too far for most PR agencies.

It was one that Seventy Seven embraced and delivered against in spades.

We brought in the star of Partouche-Betting.com’s quirky ads, footballing legend Eric Cantona. We cast him as the king of England for a photoshoot in Trafalgar Square and as star commentator alongside John Culshaw at a hastily-assembled press conference. The results were stellar.

Branded, full-page features across the Daily Mail, Daily Star and Daily Telegraph were complimented by photoshoot coverage in the METRO, Daily Mirror and lad mags. Radio pick-up included ten minute slots on talkSport and Five Live, while TV pieces were delivered on BBC News 24, SKY News and SKY Sports.

Highlight of the show, however, was the front-cover and four page feature in Sport Magazine, the biggest-selling lad’s title in the UK.

The activity delivered 52 million opportunities to see and we generated £1,700 in coverage for every £100 spent on the campaign.
